Revised Tariff Rule - Free Time and Demurrage in The Far East

Dear Valued Customer,
Westwood Shipping Lines is providing advance notice of change to the exception clause of the free time and demurrage tariff rule in the Far East.
Effective November 25, 2021, Tariff 032, Rule #17, Free Time and Demurrage in the Far East, Section 6.b.1, exception for discharge ports for containerized cargoes of Hay/Straw/Grass/Animal Feed/Forage/Beet Pellets/Oats will be removed.
Standard free time and demurrage tariff rule will be applied for Westbound containers from the U.S. and Canada to Japan and Korea. The effective date will be based on the standard free-time clock commencement on removal of container from vessel.
Summary of exception to be expired 11/24/21: Twenty-one (21) total calendar days free time
Japan: Mitigated charges apply after expiry of free time
- Days: 22 -32: 1,000 JPY per standard/hi-cube 40ft container
- Days: 33+: 4,0000 JPY per standard/hi-cube 40ft container
Korea: currently follows standard rates and is not mitigated
Summary of standard rule effective 11/25/21: Eight (8) calendar days with Saturdays and Sundays INCLUDED.
Japan and Korea: Standard charges will apply after expiry:
- Days 9-13: 6,000 JPY per standard/hi-cube 40ft container
- Days 14-17: 12,000 JPY per standard/hi-cube 40ft container
- Days 18+: 24,000 JPY per standard/hi-cube 40ft container
