Revised Low Sulphur Bunker Surcharge

Bunker Surcharge Effective January 1st, 2015

Dear Valued Customer,

Westwood Shipping Lines fully complies with all environmental regulations and requirements related to our operations.

WSL would like to inform you that in accordance with the International Maritime Organization, Marine Pollution Regulation 14, the sulfur content of fuel oil must be reduced from 1.0% to 0.1% for vessels operating in the North American Emission Control Area, effective January 1, 2015.

North American ECA Zone:
As shown below, the North American ECA (NAECA) includes waters adjacent to the Pacific coast, the Atlantic/Gulf cost and the Hawaiian Islands. The zone extends for 200 nautical miles out along the coasts of the United States and Canada.

In order to comply with this regulation, WSL vessels will use a fuel oil that meets this requirement.

At this time, it is difficult to predict the exact financial impact of this new regulation on our operations. We are currently in the process of developing modifications to our Eastbound and Westbound Bunker Surcharges to reflect the higher costs associated with this change.

We will communicate changes to these surcharges as soon as possible, and in accordance with FMC requirements, providing a minimum 30 days advance notification. The effective date of any changes will be January 1st, 2015.

We thank you for your understanding and continued support towards our ongoing efforts to improve the environment and contribute to a sustainable industry.
